Aries (fire)
March 21 – April 20
Aries rule the roost. Their strongest color is red but other fiery colors like yellow and orange are common in their homes. They look for trends, spot them, and make it work in their home. They are trend-spotters who are often the first to pick up on a new decorating idea.
Taurus (earth)
April 21 – May 21
Tauruses love natural living and favor the country, rural look. Strong affinity for the color green and green tones of yellow. The best room for a Taurus is uncomplicated but soft -- use fabrics and classic lines to create a comfortable but sophisticated area.
Gemini (air)
May 22 – June 21
Geminis are energetic to the end. They love to have fun and be the organizer of the party. Strong colors for Geminis are yellow, bright green, and even blue. I'd call the style for them "electric chic," Plus, and this should come as no surprise, they are symmetrical designers. Pairs of chairs, tables, or even art are going to be seen in the Gemini home.
Cancer (water)
June 22 – July 23
Don't underestimate the imagination of a Cancer even though he probably is a homebody. A dynamic color for Cancer is silver, mixed with a subtle off white or pearly color and maybe periwinkle or lavender for an accent Tranquility is the style best suited for a Cancer and being comfortable is part of that tranquility. Forget the hard lines and look for plush, upholstered pieces. Most used art in a Cancer house: family photos.
Leo (fire)
July 24 – August 23
Our vision of Lions sunning themselves on the Serengeti is about right when it comes to Leos decorating their homes. The Leo is a majestic being so the colors are red and purple. Being outside is crucial, so animal prints or other outdoor-inspired textures and colors are likely. Bring in the fun with accessories and be sure to have plenty of mirrors around.
Virgo (earth)
August 24 – September 23
Don't even try to make a mess in the Virgo home. Organization and order are the name of the game. The colors will be neutral -- maybe a blue or green in there to spice it up, but definitely more in the beige family. Order doesn't have to be ugly though. A beautiful vintage chest of drawers or desk is likely to be found in the Virgo home. Just don't look for any clutter -- it doesn't happen in the Virgo space!
Libra (air)
September 24 – October 23
Libras stay balanced and in design that means symmetry --buying things in pairs or keeping a room balanced by having two chairs flanking a sofa. Blue is the best color for Libras accented by neutrals. Libras also tend to put their design dollar to good use -- quality pieces that last a long time. Don't look for trendy knick knacks or pop culture in the Libra hoe. Classic, yet clean -- that's the Libra look.
Scorpio (water)
October 24 – November 22
Scorpios are full of passion and confidence and they decorate that way. Strong, dark hues are the name of the game. Start with burgundy and then bring in the classic silver, black, and white. Dramatic and exotic pieces are likely to be seen in the Scorpio home. Leather, full length curtains, and old world pieces are perfect for this self-assured decorator.
Sagittarius (fire)
November 23 – December 21
A fun sign to be sure. These folks are happy and always looking at the bright side. Start with a palate using purple and bring in other brights like turquoise or persimmon. Walking into a Sagittarius home means you'll be cheered up instantly. There will be places to gather with friends and family and dinner tables will seat many. Expect a home that is made for entertaining, but feels comfortable enough that you could put your feet up and stay a while.
Capricorn (earth)
December 22 – January 20
Details, details, details. No stone is left unturned and no corner left unkept in a Capricorn house. The earth tones help maintain order. Browns, beiges, and maybe some earthy greens. Nothing too bold though. The furniture will be carefully chosen to complement the space. The style and character in a Capricorn home comes from the personal touches -- the art on the wall, the photos on the mantle, or maybe a whimsical piece on a shelf. It's comfortable and non-threatening and definitely clean.
Aquarius (air)
January 21 – February 19
Aquarians are fiercely independent. Do not look for mimicry in the Aquarius home. What you will find is great use of color, especially the blending of metallics. Modern, contemporary design is more likely to be found in the Aquarius home than any other and you'll be the first to try the newest design or technological advance.
Pisces (water)
February 20 – March 20
Poor Pisces tend to be collectors. Sometimes that's great, but other times it just leads to a mess. Going with the flow is given new meaning in the Pisces house. Drawing its colors from the sea, the Pisces is going to decorate in greens and blues and the object in the house are going to be bright and shiny--like treasures from a sunken ship. There can be some indecision present in a Pisces home -- maybe too hard to choose just one, so why not get both? What is certain is that no visit to the Pisces home will be the same as the Pisces is going to change the design and decor often.
